Save CBC Orchestra - All Petition Signatories

The petition is now closed. Thanks to all who took the time to sign the petition and post comments. Though the CBC Radio Orchestra's life was ended by CBC Radio, the orchestra has been reincarnated in a new form: the National Broadcast Orchestra of Canada - Orchestre national de diffusion du Canada.

Dear Mark Steinmetz and CBC Radio, Prime Minister Harper, Members of Parliament, and the Minister of Canadian Heritage. We the undersigned want the CBC Radio Orchestra saved. We believe that the orchestra is an integral part of Canada's mosaic and an important contributor to Canada's unique and rich cultural heritage. Our Canada includes the CBC Radio Orchestra!

I would also like to comment that I miss the classical music programing on CBC Radio 1.

The CBC identifies us to ourselves and the world. The Orchestra enhances that identity by presenting our artistic expression in a unique way. As lovers of our CBC and as taxpayers, we ask you to stop the cuts and stop this plan to cut the Orchestra.

Please do not undermine accessibility of classical music and Canadian composers, to the significant number of us whose lives are greatly enriched by CBC programs and 0rchestra. The younger generation, as did we, will come to value it more and more.

The CBC is unique to Canada. Why not celebrate and promote that uniqueness instead of trying to make it look like and work like any other commercial network. The CBC orchestra is a valuable part of our culture.

I LOVE CBC radio and feel it is one of the unique aspects of our Canadian heritage that sets uus apart from our American neighbours. The CBC orchestra is a part of this and would be a HUGE loss of it were axed.

What is planned for CBC Radio Two is akin to shutting down the country\'s public libraries and replacing them with magazine stores.

It would be a travesty to Canadian culture, radio, and the arts to make any cuts to the CBC. You should be ADDING not subtracting!

Save the CBC Radio Orchestra as a Canadian national heritage music institution! Restore classical music to before and after school time periods so I can also listen!

Let us once more take a stand for the value of arts in our society and restore the CBC Radio Orchestra and the type of programming that has been the hallmark of CBC Radio 2 for many years.

I am very upset about the proposed changes-I only listen to 105.7 Vancouver every day for past45 years of my life-please listen to the public love for this station\'s music. thks. Lyette

You have turned CBC Radio II into the most boring station ever. It is horrible that you have not valued all of your loyal listeners.

The CBC Radio Orchestra and CBC Radio 2 (in its present program configuration) our two of the cultural icon\'s which a small but meaningful part of our population considers to be important to our Canadian culture.

A faithful listener to CBC2 since 1991,I have found the CBC Radio Orchestra under Mario Bernardi to soar above many other internationally accredited orchestras. Why give up this beautifully polished gem? Further fine musicians should never be unemployed.

CBC FM keep my mind in a relaxed state while those other drivers determine their own destiny. Can\'t imagine not having CBC keep us company on the road.
