Though the CBC Radio Orchestra's life was ended by CBC Radio, the orchestra has been reincarnated in a new form: the National Broadcast Orchestra of Canada - Orchestre national de diffusion du Canada.
Dear Mark Steinmetz and CBC Radio, Prime Minister Harper, Members of Parliament, and the Minister of Canadian Heritage. We the undersigned want the CBC Radio Orchestra saved. We believe that the orchestra is an integral part of Canada's mosaic and an important contributor to Canada's unique and rich cultural heritage. Our Canada includes the CBC Radio Orchestra!

What a shame. Are those in charge truly listening??

Please reconsider the most recent changes to cbc radio 2. Look at all the blog comments, facebook pages, and other sites from people whe need classical music. Especially in the morning.
Angela Davies
We are dismayed at the dumbing down of the CBC programming and the demise of the Orchestra
Toni Andriotis
It is a shame the way the CBC manages it\'s organization without concern to the listeners to whom it serves.
Gerald Fournier
I was asked, by a friend, the other day. How would you discribe the \"new 2\" as they call it? My answer was, NOISY!!! What shame.

A nation without art is a nation without a soul. \"New CBC2\" has opted for something less than art. Ciao! CBC...it\'s been a slice.
Eric Damer
I wake up every morning to CBC 2--now there is no point, since I can get Bruce Springsteen or Gordon Lighfoot on other local stations.

CBC\'s programming used to be great! Restore the cuts that were made to the classical music shows and keep the orchestra, which is a priceless asset!
Laura Auxier
I don\'t listen anymore.
Evelyne Richer
For those of us who live outside of large urban areas the loss of classical music on CBC means we will have to rely on streamed programming from the U.S. So much for canadian representation on our airwaves.

CBC has lost me as a listener; the new format of Radio 2 is infantile.

As a wealthy and culturally mature country it is shameful that the CBC is even considering cutting their orchestra. The government needs to be pressured into providing adequate funding. An election issue, maybe?

I have listened to CBC Radio 2 since I was a child. I\'m now 45 and value its quality broadcasting over that of other \"classical\" stations. Their content pales in comparison. CBC Radio 2 needs to be here - for the whole country!
Philip Weinstein
CBC must lead - not follow general surveys of public taste

CBC has become irrelevant to this Canadian. May as well eliminate it completely now.

How can you ignore this kind of support , and opposition to current plans ?
Steve Vettese
I remember a time where I could listen to this station and be content that I wasn\'t hearing the dumbed down sort of music on Classical 96.3 FM. I want to keep it that way.
Patti Socha

Shame! A strategy to kill CBC altogether?
Anna Babinska
Shame, shame, shame on CBC top brass for caving in to conservative dumbing-down policies. Enough!
Kristen Adlhoch
Gordon Tisher
It\'s a crying shame.
Wendy LaPierre
CBC2 is one of the main enjoyments of my day!
Ben Callaghan
The cuts going on at CBC are a travesty. Wake up, reinstate the Radio Orchestra and give us our Radio 2 back!
Toby Earp
It is a great shame to withdraw support from this orchestra, which has done so much to foster good musicianship in Canada.
Diep Vu
I cried when I heard of the changes to be made on CBC radio 2. Classical music speaks to all ages. It is not a dying culture. Please keep it alive.

Destroying a cultural institution in the name of progress? What next, when will we start burning books? What a shame.

this is a strike against canadian culture. something needs to be done to sway the minds of people in the decision making chairs.
