Though the CBC Radio Orchestra's life was ended by CBC Radio, the orchestra has been reincarnated in a new form: the National Broadcast Orchestra of Canada - Orchestre national de diffusion du Canada.
Dear Mark Steinmetz and CBC Radio, Prime Minister Harper, Members of Parliament, and the Minister of Canadian Heritage. We the undersigned want the CBC Radio Orchestra saved. We believe that the orchestra is an integral part of Canada's mosaic and an important contributor to Canada's unique and rich cultural heritage. Our Canada includes the CBC Radio Orchestra!

Although in NS I\'ll probably never see it-it is a very very important cultural musical link & its recordings belong to us all!

As a Vancouver-born Canadian musician living in Europe, this news saddens me and vindicates my having left Canada 20+ yrs ago. Canada is one of the richest countries in the world, yet too often has money problems sustaining its own cultural institutions.

It is sad to think that the CBC radio Orchestra will be gone from our life. We have lost so much already. Please rethink this decision, for the good of all Canadians.

How sad the CBC, once a standard of excellence and an inspiration to so many of all ages is sinking into mediocrity. What of the heritage to inspire our young? Please think again!

Now 89 years of age I have experienced many hours of classical music listening. There are ever more taxpayers in Canada. Surely a way can be found to keep the CBC orchestra going and Radio 2 for us to enjoy in future.

If we cannot support our national orchestra then we will be very poor indeed. This orchestra enriches eveyone\'s lives and also permits young musicians to feel they are supported by the country. This would be cultural annihilation on multi levels.

Don\'t you think that it is time to stop dumbing Canada down? Please keep the orchestra and the current level of classical music on CBC 2.

My tax dollars fund the CBC, and I want my dollars to go to the \"sharp end of the stick\" the artists.

Somebody once pointed out the an orchestra is one of the finest examples of a group of human beings working together to create something bigger than themselves. Don\'t let this go

They say they are cancelling strictly because of financial reasons. In the same newspaper we read of a member of their Board of Directors flying executive class for a trip of a few hours. What\'s wrong with this picture.

The CBC Radio Orchestra gives quality expression to the distinctly Canadian musical voice, enriching lives far beyond our borders. CBC2 with Classical music feeds our souls. Keep it alive.

Classical music on CBC is one of the sane counterpoints to an increasingly frenetic world and that is especially true of its fine orchestra. I know I am not alone and I\'m sure that millions of my baby boomer compatriots would agree.

It is time for Canadians to find pride in their own heritage rather than always looking outside for approval.
