Though the CBC Radio Orchestra's life was ended by CBC Radio, the orchestra has been reincarnated in a new form: the National Broadcast Orchestra of Canada - Orchestre national de diffusion du Canada.
Dear Mark Steinmetz and CBC Radio, Prime Minister Harper, Members of Parliament, and the Minister of Canadian Heritage. We the undersigned want the CBC Radio Orchestra saved. We believe that the orchestra is an integral part of Canada's mosaic and an important contributor to Canada's unique and rich cultural heritage. Our Canada includes the CBC Radio Orchestra!

What, with all due respect,is the CBC thinking of? Cancelling TV\'s AirFarce is another misstep. Are we going for the dumbingdown of one of Canada\'s great binding symbols, the CBC radio? Shame on you. Alice Little

I would respectfully ask the powers that be to reverse AT ONCE this senseless decision. Isn\'t classical music in enough trouble already? What outlets will both musicians and listeners be left with ultimately if decisions of this kind keep being taken?
Brigitte French
The orchestra is the heart and soul of the CBC. Why are you so keen to destroy it. There is money for everything we don\'t need, but culture comes last

The shift in priority of the CBC, away from European art music at all costs, will be regretted in the future.

Why now, classical music is at risk, why add to the demise through some short sighted decision?

It is impossible to measure the contribution that the CBC and its Radio Orchestra make to our country. But it should be obvious that a wealthy country like Canada can afford to support a national radio orchestra.

An affluent nation like ours need to invest in its human capital - our music students need to know they can work in thier own country, we can\'t afford a \"muscial brian drain\". Besides, I like classical music!!

To me CBC stands for quality. I was shocked by this news. Please stay true to your roots!
