Save CBC Orchestra - All Petition Signatories

The petition is now closed. Thanks to all who took the time to sign the petition and post comments. Though the CBC Radio Orchestra's life was ended by CBC Radio, the orchestra has been reincarnated in a new form: the National Broadcast Orchestra of Canada - Orchestre national de diffusion du Canada.

Dear Mark Steinmetz and CBC Radio, Prime Minister Harper, Members of Parliament, and the Minister of Canadian Heritage. We the undersigned want the CBC Radio Orchestra saved. We believe that the orchestra is an integral part of Canada's mosaic and an important contributor to Canada's unique and rich cultural heritage. Our Canada includes the CBC Radio Orchestra!

CBC Radio 3 FM is also doing a wonderful \"Canadian Job.\" I was not happy to hear that \"Disc Drive\" has been cancelled !

CBC-Two should keep doing what it does best -- keep Canadians in touch with their classical musical artists, such as the CBC Radio Orchestra, and teach Canadians about this part of our culture.

A decision that will become a regret.

This orchestra has started the careers of so many musicians and composers in this country that it is appalling to think of the ineptness of such a decision and the effect it will have on the development of new music and talent in Canada.

I strongly urge our government not to cut funding to this national orchestra!

CBC Radio is such a high quality station-it connects us all nationally with programs of interest we all share. Music, especially live music, communicates with every person from every cultural background. Please don\'t take this important link away.

It seems that the arts in Canada is to be supported only when part of a public spectacle, such as the Olympics. Music clearly has no value. What will be next, I wonder.

Katharine R. Dyson
These talented musicians deserve praise not cancellation for the beauty and soul they represent each time they play!
