Save CBC Orchestra - All Petition Signatories

The petition is now closed. Thanks to all who took the time to sign the petition and post comments. Though the CBC Radio Orchestra's life was ended by CBC Radio, the orchestra has been reincarnated in a new form: the National Broadcast Orchestra of Canada - Orchestre national de diffusion du Canada.

Dear Mark Steinmetz and CBC Radio, Prime Minister Harper, Members of Parliament, and the Minister of Canadian Heritage. We the undersigned want the CBC Radio Orchestra saved. We believe that the orchestra is an integral part of Canada's mosaic and an important contributor to Canada's unique and rich cultural heritage. Our Canada includes the CBC Radio Orchestra!

I can\'t believe this is happening to our CBC Radio Orchestra or classical music programing on CBC in general. It\'s like destroying an essential service!

It is a disgrace that the CBC wants to radically change from its high quality music and discussion programming by removing from its repertoire the CBC Orchestra and classical music.

Pandering after youth culture is a mug\'s game. The CBC should not hide its best assets away. They die that way. Young people grow up, and might then listen to CBC, providing the programming hasn\'t squandered its high standards and resources.

Appalling decision. I suppose the National Gallery will be the next to go.

It is a travesty that such an accomplished orchestra should be disbanded after all its years of loyal service and with such a following!

Please keep the CBC Radio Orchestra and classical music programming on the CBC. I grew up with it and my young children are too - we love it and it helps us connect with our country and culture.

The CBC Radio Orchestra has been an important part of my entertainment experience for many years and would leave a large hole in my listening experience if it were gone.
