Save CBC Orchestra - All Petition Signatories

The petition is now closed. Thanks to all who took the time to sign the petition and post comments. Though the CBC Radio Orchestra's life was ended by CBC Radio, the orchestra has been reincarnated in a new form: the National Broadcast Orchestra of Canada - Orchestre national de diffusion du Canada.

Dear Mark Steinmetz and CBC Radio, Prime Minister Harper, Members of Parliament, and the Minister of Canadian Heritage. We the undersigned want the CBC Radio Orchestra saved. We believe that the orchestra is an integral part of Canada's mosaic and an important contributor to Canada's unique and rich cultural heritage. Our Canada includes the CBC Radio Orchestra!

I believe that the CBC Radio Orchestra and classical music on CBC are a very important part of Canadian Life. I hope this great resource will be available into the future.

The thought of abandoning out musical heritage for nothing more than bubblegum pop and a few extra dollars sickens me.

I support the CBC Radio Orchestra and Radio 2. No other station offers classical music during the day; do not replicate what you did to Radio Canada,Francais; it has no substance whatsoever. Carmen Goddard

No! We have few orchestras as it is, don\'t make all our homegrown musicians leave the country for a decent job.

This is one of the few orchestras that everyone can hear, regardless of their income. Please keep it active.

The CBC Radio Orchestra is one of the features of the CBC that distinguish it from them many purveyors of bad music on the airwaves. Please preserve it.

Chasing markets is not the CBC mandate - integrity in the face of commercialization is - saving this orchestra is an opportunity to show cultural leadership.

This is madness -- beauty in life often comes via music and rhe CBC !!!

Surely Canada can have one excellent radio orchestra to showcase our musicians and composers. This is not about classical vs other music. it is about engaging with musical performance in our own country.

Change for the sake of change is NOT on for CBC classical programmes - how dare a few people presume to change what for many (very many) is a way of life. This includes the CBC Orchestra - it is part of our National Heritage..Shame on you.

Please don\'t do this! My daughters and I (age 4 and &) listen to CBC Radio Orchestra all the time, they are already fans of this wonderful kind of music but only because of the constant exposure they get to via the radio.

The exposure The CBC Orchestra has given to Canadian music and composers has been central to the very high standard of music we now enjoy in this country.

This is a defining moment for Canadian culture.

It is difficult to think of a Canadian future without this Canadian icon. For the sake of future generations: artists, musicians, and the general public, please do all you can to ensure the continuation of this valuable asset to Canadian culture.
